Warsaw City Guide

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, a city worth seeing, which will captivate you with its own, is a unique city, located in the center of Europe, at the junction of the trade roads from the West to the East and from the North to the South of the continent. You will be truly fascinated by the history and atmosphere of this magnificent city, which combines the influences of Western and Eastern Europe, and where tradition meets modernity. Warsaw will surely enchant you.

We invite you to get to know this city full of contrasts, where historical monuments and modern architecture coexist in every street historical palaces, buildings and architectural complexes. The typically-urban construction is immerged in open spaces of green squares and municipal parks.

We encourage you to visit this vibrant metropolis. You will bring back unforgettable memories from there. And to those who will decide to stay a bit longer in this city, Warsaw will surely give more than one chance. Warsaw is worth staying there for a few days.

Warsaw, a great survivor of Europe with an extraordinary spirit - is now emerging as a dynamic city in the middle of the new Europe. A busy metropolis, Warsaw is both the business capital of Poland, and a fascinating tourist destination, full of unique restaurants, cafes and cultural sites. Warsaw is a great location for business, with outstanding facilities for conferences and seminars it also provides a huge range of other places of interes for the more relaxed holiday traveller.

BUSES
The bus system around the city is well developed. Buses may sometimes be crowded but they are safe and punctual. Take a look at the bus routes at the bus stops when looking for your bus. There are three types of buses: Black Number - Regular service - stops at all bus stops. Red Number - Rapid service - stops at selected bus stops on the same regular routes. Black Square with white numbers followed by N - night buses. There are also some Express (E) buses. On the timetable the first column is bus arrival time on weekdays, the second column gives times of arrival at weekends and holidays. A list of bus stops is also given. Make sure you know the direction you want to go. The destination of the bus is displayed at the front of the bus.

TRAMS
There are day trams operating approximately between 4 a.m. till 11 p.m. The tram route schedule is exactly the same as the bus. The tram is a quicker means of transport during the rush hour.

SUBWAY
Warsaw has a very simple and short subway system which is still under construction. If your destination allows you to choose the METRO - use it because it is the fastest way of traveling in the city.

TAXI
Always use official taxi operators with official fares. Official taxi corporations have their logo and phone number on the top of the taxi and the tariff on the passenger window. An official license must be visible inside the taxi. You can always phone for a taxi (there is a problem with language and your location - however there is no charge for finding you).

TICKETS
The general rule here is - one trip, one ticket. If you are staying in the city for some time there are other options, e.g. day, week or month tickets. Validate your ticket immediately when entering the bus/tram.
